This quick change cassette system is used to solve the problems of longer rolls changeover duration and machine down time when products specifications and dimensions change, which allows the whole assembly of the upper platform together with all the roll stands to be lifted off completely for roll change.
The forming and sizing sections both incorporate rafted platforms with one spare set of pre-assembled upper platform and roll stand assembly (for forming and sizing sections) for tooling quick change. The mill platform is separated in two sections, the upper platform and base platform with one stacked on top of the other. The upper platform is secured onto the base platform via means of hydraulic cylinder and positioning pins. This quick change cassette system allows the whole assembly of the upper platform together with all the roll stands to be lifted off completely for roll change. While roll change is being performed, another pre-assembled set of the upper platform and roll stand assembly can be lifted in onto the mill base platform to allow the production to continue.
By utilizing this quick-change system, the machine down time can be dramatically reduced as the production does not need to be halted while roll change is being performed on the spare platform assembly.
